GUWAHATI: Over the last three years, 167 kilometres of land has been freed from encroachers in Assam, owing to consistent government efforts and cooperation from a large section of society, announced Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Wednesday, July 24.

The encroached land recovered is larger than the area that covers Chandigarh city, he added as reference. He also said that the government would be commitment to make every inch of land in Assam free from encroachers.
Taking to X, CM Himanta said, “In the last 3 years, with consistent Govt efforts & cooperation from a large section of society, we have been able to free up 167 Sq. Km of land from encroachers, an area larger than the size of Chandigarh city. We are committed to make every inch of land free from encroachers.”
