GUWAHATI: A 15-feet Shiva sculpture will be on display at the Durga Puja Pandal in the Gokul Homes Apartment located opposite Assam Cricket Association Cricket Stadium in Barsapara, Guwahati.
Inspired by the Adiyogi Statue of Shiva in Coimbatore, the Durga Puja pandal is being constructed for the last two months featuring the Shiva sculpture.
The artisans are giving final touches to the pandal which should be ready by Durga Panchami, September 30.
Speaking to G Plus, Krishna Das, one of the makers of the pandal said that the design was inspired by the Mahashiva Adiyogi Statue at Velliangiri mountain at Coimbatore.
Das added that the pandal has not yet been completed and that his design of the Shiva sculpture is inspired by the Adiyogi Statue and not a replica of the same.
A souvenir has also been prepared by the Durga Puja committee, marking the Durga puja celebrations which will be launched by eminent personalities of the city.
Nirjhar Biswas, President of the GHDPC said that the work is going on in full swing to ensure a hassle-free puja as this year, after two years of COVID pandemic Durga Puja celebrations are being conducted.
