GUWAHATI: People excluded from the final National Register of Citizens (NRC) will get 10 months to prove their citizenship before they are sent to detention centres, informed police officials in the state.

According to a report by The Hindu, police officials also mentioned that NRC-rejects will not directly be sent to detention centres. The process will most likely take months, years probably, as people whose names have not been included can approach the High Court and Supreme Court if they are unable to establish their citizenship at the Foreigners’ Tribunals (FT).
