Zubeen Garg Bestowed with ‘Purushottam Das’ Award

GUWAHATI: Zubeen Garg conferred with the ‘Purushottam Das’ award on March 18. It was conferred upon the singer by the organising committee of Barpeta Chawalkhuwa Mahotsav. 

Purushottam Das, from Barpeta was a pioneer of modern Assamese music. He was known for his preservation, publicity and spreading of Assamese folk music. He is well-known in the Assamese music industry as a singer and composer. 

Garg said that he was overwhelmed on being given this award and he would like to extend his “love, gratitude and best wishes to the people of Barpeta.”
