Zerifa Wahid talks about ‘The Evolution of Theatre’, visits AIMT for campus talks

Campus Talks, an initiative by G Plus in association with Airtel, organised an interactive session with actress Zerifa Wahid for the students of Asian Institute of Management Technology, Guwahati. Jayanta Goswami, HOD, Department of Mass Communication felicitated Zerifa Wahid and welcomed her to the institute.

The actress visited the AIMT campus and spoke about how theatre as an art form has evolved and has started catering to the various classes of people. Speaking on the topic, Zerifa informed the youth about the various forms of theatre, its history and evolution. Particularly mentioning about the survival of theatres, she says, “Anything would be dying art, if people are not interested in it. It is very important for schools and colleges to have sessions on theatre for students to cultivate the art form and develop an interest towards it.”

Campus Talks is altogether a very new phenomenon for the city, which was started by G Plus six months back. It primarily aims at creating an open platform for students to discuss various social issues. An open debate forum is also provided for the students where they can put forward their views.

Eminent persons from different walks of life are invited to various colleges every week. They enlighten the youth on topics of national importance and interest. Through Campus Talks, they aim to get the youngsters’ opinion about the current government, its policies on various political, social and current issues, since it is important to know the changes that the younger generation seeks or wants for the betterment of the society.

During her interaction with the students, Zerifa also paid her tributes to eminent film personality Late Biju Phukan. She said, “With Biju da’s demise, an era has ended.”
