Youth's Demise Leads To Closure Of Dr Bhupen Hazarika Samadhikshetra In Guwahati

 

GUWAHATI: Guwahati has been left in sudden shock, owing to the sudden death of a 16-year-old boy in the Dr Bhupen Hazarika Samadhikshetra in Jalukbari on Wednesday.

The incident reportedly occurred when the young boy while visiting the venue with his family, got electrocuted after touching the fountain water inside the venue. 

The deceased has been identified as Shubham Kumar Rai, a resident of BBC colony in the Pandu, Maligaon area of the city, wherein the report also stated that “The youth had reportedly put his hands into the water of the fountain after which he was electrocuted to death.” 

Talking to G Plus, Jalukbari Outpost IC said, “The boy and his family originally hailed from Dhubri, Assam, and immediately after the incident, he was rushed to the Ayurvedic College in Jalukbari, post which he was transferred to Swagat Hospital in Maligaon where he breathed his last, as he succumbed to his injuries.”

Much was done on the part of the doctors but still, they were unable to save him.

The police official of Jalukbari Outpost further said, “The memorial site has now been sealed off after the devastating incident and the PWD Electrical Officials have been contacted to attend to the suspicions of internal wiring issues that led to this unfortunate event.”

Further details on the reopening of the memorial site are awaited.
