WWII-Era Bomb Found In Assam’s Lakhimpur Successfully Defused

 

GUWAHATI: An 182-kilogram bomb dating back to the Second World War was successfully defused in Assam’s Lakhimpur district on Thursday, February 13. Air Force personnel safely defused the bomb within the Dulung Reserve Forest, according to the reports.

The bomb was reportedly discovered on September 27, 2024, by the Indian Air Force on the banks of the Jhili River and was an active bomb at the time of recovery.

Earlier, the authorities declared a 3.5 km area around the site a no-entry zone, and restricted access to the general public.
