According to the victim, two unknown individuals, claiming to be police officials dressed in casual attire, approached her and managed to con her into handing over the gold ornaments she was wearing.
Speaking to GPlus, the victim, Manju Devi Mahnot, said, “ While returning in a rickshaw, two strangers approached me and advised against wearing gold ornaments in public, suggesting to keep those in my bag. Despite insisting that I wasn’t wearing gold, they persistently urged me to put it in my bag. One of them handed me a piece of paper, and after that, something strange happened that I can’t clearly recall. When I reached home, I realised my bangles and rings were gone—I was left with only a metal bangle. This incident happened around 10:55 AM. The area is not safe, especially for women. Police patrolling is necessary."
A complaint has been filed at the Bharalumukh Police Station. Speaking to GPlus, an official stated, "We are currently investigating the case."
Further details are awaited as the investigation progresses.
