GUWAHATI: Guwahati police apprehended a woman on charges of theft on Friday, May 2, after she stole three Muga silk sets from a clothing store in the Baruwari area.

“This Bohag, instead of golden silk, Anjali Gowala wraps herself in legal threads,” Guwahati Police posted an account of the same filled with satire on X.
The incident took place when the woman, identified as Anjali Gowala, visited a store named Koina. Drawn to three Paat Muga silk sets, she slipped them into her bag and exited the premises without making any payment at the billing counter.
Following a complaint, a team from the Latasil Police Station initiated a search operation. The accused was tracked down to her residence in Gandhibosti, where the stolen items were recovered.
All three Muga sets have been returned to the shop, and Gowala was taken into custody. Further legal proceedings are underway against the accused.
