GUWAHATI: A woman has accused her neighbour at Bihubor near Nazira in Upper Assam’s Sivasagar district, of attempting to perform a human sacrifice ritual on her in a quest for hidden treasures.
The incident came to light on Wednesday after the woman filed an FIR against the accused.
According to the victim’s account, the accused, who is her neighbour, had been closely following her for the past two weeks.
One day, without warning, he approached her and requested her to join him in uncovering buried treasures believed to be hidden in the soil.
Following this, the accused proposed that the discovery of the treasure could only be achieved through a ritual involving a human sacrifice.
The man allegedly assured the victim that he would pay her mother a sum of ₹2 lakh before conducting the ritual on her.
The woman alleged that the accused even threatened to kidnap her if she continued to refuse the proposal of sacrifice.
Deeply disturbed by the grave threats to her life, the victim promptly reported the matter to the local authorities. She approached the police, providing them with details of the incident and the accused individual.
While speaking to G Plus, police officials of Bihubor Police Station said that within hours of registration of the FIR, a team had gone looking for the accused.
On reaching his residence, the police found that the man had gone underground after it came to light that the victim had approached the police.
Efforts are currently underway to locate and apprehend the accused for further investigation into the alarming allegations.
