GUWAHATI: A heavily intoxicated woman got into an alleged altercation with a traffic official present on the Shraddhanjali Flyover in Zoo Road, Guwahati on November 13.
As per reports, the woman was riding the two-wheeler without a helmet in an inebriated state.
When the traffic official present on the flyover tried to stop and reason with her about driving under influence and not wearing a helmet, the woman resisted and allegedly tore off the nameplate from the uniform of one of the officials present at the scene.
Described as disoriented and uncooperative, the woman defied every attempt by the police to reason with her. She allegedly shouted at the officers, slurring foul words and created a scene.
Talking to GPlus, a police official from the Geetanagar Police Station said, “We get such drunken driving cases on a regular basis, and after imposing fines we let them go. But, due to the altercation, we had to file an FIR yesterday.”
In the aftermath of the incident, the woman's two-wheeler and her driver's license were reportedly seized.
Further details awaited.
