Woman Caught At Guwahati Railway Station With Heroin Worth ₹72 Lakh

 

GUWAHATI: In a joint operation, the Railway Protection Force (RPF) and Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) apprehended a drug peddler at Guwahati Railway Station on January 23.

The suspect, identified as Rudrani Bhattacharjee (36), a resident of Agartala, Tripura, was detained after the Jan Shatabdi Express (Train No. 12068 DN) arrived at platform 6.

The woman, who was travelling in coach D8, seat number 95 (PNR No. 6547437720) from Dimapur to Guwahati, was intercepted during a routine joint check of the train. Upon inspecting her luggage, authorities recovered 30 plastic soap boxes containing heroin, weighing  360 gram. The seized heroin is valued at approximately ₹72 lakh in the illegal market.

Bhattacharjee was taken into custody by the NCB, along with the seized contraband. Further legal proceedings and investigations are underway.
