GUWAHATI: Four individuals, including two children and a woman, were trampled falling victim to a fatal encounter with a wild elephant in Karbi Anglong on November 23.
The incident occurred in Laloo village of Bormanthir under the jurisdiction of Bokajan Police Station.
According to reports, two elephants, straying near the forest fringe hamlets, were on their way back to the jungle when they encountered two adults along with children. The situation escalated, leading to a deadly attack by one of the elephants.
According to reports, the victims have been identified as Rebika Kerketta aged 28, Kania Tiria aged 50, Jesia Kerketta aged 4, and Augustine Karmakar aged 2.
The Bokajan police, in collaboration with personnel from the forest department, responded to the incident. The bodies were recovered from the scene and subsequently transported to Diphu Medical College Hospital for post-mortem examinations, as per reports. Further details are awaited
