GUWAHATI: A wild elephant was reportedly found dead today on Friday morning near Azara in the Rani Tehsil area on the outskirts of Guwahati.

The tusker’s body was discovered behind the house of a local resident, Rupen Rabha. The elephant may have reportedly been electrocuted, possibly after coming into contact with an electrical wire. It is believed the elephant wandered into the area while foraging for food.
Forest officials from the nearby Rani Forest division arrived and have launched an investigation to confirm the exact cause of death.
