Western Railways to withdraw massage services, “against Indian culture” states MP

GUWAHATI: The Indian Railways has withdrawn its proposal to provide massage services on board trains originating from Indore. 

However, based on a report by Hindustan Times, senior railway officials did not approve of the idea and Indore MP Shankar Lalwani even wrote to Union minister Piyush Goyal stating that such services provided in front of women are against Indian culture.

It should be noted that a proposal had been drafted for the introduction of head and foot massage services to be available in trains originating from Indore by Ratlam Division of Western Railways. The Railways had estimated an additional revenue of Rs. 20 lakh annually from this service.
