GUWAHATI: A video capturing a car and a bike making illegal U-turns on Guwahati's Zoo Road Flyover has raised alarms among city residents. Recorded on August 23 around 4:30 PM, the footage highlights a growing problem of reckless driving on the flyover, which poses significant safety risks.

Guwahati locals have expressed concerns over such repeated incidents, with one resident noting, "This isn't a one-time incident; vehicles frequently make U-turns here, posing a serious safety risk." The presence of broken dividers and the resulting traffic jams around the city have only exacerbated the issue, making it easier for vehicles to execute these dangerous maneuvers.
A traffic official, speaking to GPlus, mentioned, “If we catch them, we impose a fine. We also have personnel posted on the flyover during patrolling time.” However, despite these measures, the problem persists, prompting calls for stricter enforcement.
Residents fear that unchecked incidents like these could lead to more frequent traffic jams and an increase in potential accidents.
