GUWAHATI: A local court in Gujarat has issued a warrant against former Assam Chief Minister Hiteshwar Saikia’s son, Ashok Saikia and his wife Purabi in a cheque bounce case worth Rs 1.8 crore.
As per a report by the Times of India, the Metropolitan Court No 31 has been issuing summons and warrants against the Saikias for over a year now.
Since the summons and bailable warrants have remained unserved at their Guwahati addresses for so long, the court on Thursday adopted a strong posture and summoned the responsible cop in case the warrants are not served this time.
Along with the bailable warrants of Rs 5,000 in two cases, the court addressed a letter to the deputy commissioner of police of crime unit, Guwahati and ordered him to take immediate action.
