"Wanted to display Assamese culture" Riyan Parag on displaying 'gamocha' during IPL

GUWAHATI: Assam's star boy Riyan Parag is back home after playing a successful innings at the Indian Premier League (IPL). Riyan is the youngest player in the IPL to score 50 by breaking the record of Sanju Samson, who was his team mate in Rajasthan Royals. 

While addressing the media at his residence in Guwahati on 7 May, Parag said that he wanted to display Assamese culture and tradition in the international platform.

"IPL is an event where you have international players coming to play and I displayed the gamocha to highlight our culture and tradition there. I was offered the towel but I declined it because I wanted to use gamocha instead," Parag said.

He mentioned that all players in his team supported him throughout and he had a very nice experience playing in the IPL.

Parag further thanked everyone for the support and said that he will work further to get selected to the main Indian team and bring more glory to the state.
