Vietnam Province shows interest in Assam Agri Sector

Guwahati: The Hung Yen Provincial Peoples' Committee has agreed to work for the development of agricultural sector in Assam with appropriate technological support. 
While welcoming the delegation team of Assam headed by Atul Bora, and 13 members of the Assam Legislative Assembly, Nguyen Van Phong, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee stated about the long-term relationship between India and Vietnam and the cultural similarity shared by the two countries.

Highlighting the agricultural scenario and model of agricultural extension, Phong stated that proper banking facilities and market-oriented production policy by the government has helped Vietnamese farmers to increase their per capita income. The farmers of the province are applying biotechnology in their field. He also stressed on cluster approach for specific crops pointing out that it showed good results.

During the discussion period Atul Bora said that he was fortunate enough to visit and study the agricultural sector of Vietnam. Briefing the agricultural background of Assam, Bora sought technological support, especially in agricultural processing and marketing in Assam.

Bora and the delegation team visited a turmeric growing and processing zone at Khoai Chai District of the province. The team was accompanied by P Harish, Indian Ambassador in Vietnam.
