GUWAHATI: Assam’s singer Heera Das passed away at the age of 73 on Saturday, March 29 following a brain stroke. The veteran artist breathed her last at a private hospital in Guwahati, where she had been undergoing treatment for the past few days.
Heera Das was celebrated for lending her vocals to numerous iconic Assamese songs, including Niyar Xona Eti Gulap and Dukhe Jetia Duyuti Soku.
She was the wife of eminent musician, lyricist, and composer J.P. Das. She is survived by her husband and their three children.
