USTM Chancellor Brought To Guwahati's Dispur Police Station For Further Interrogation

GUWAHATI: University of Science and Technology Meghalaya (USTM) Chancellor Mahbubul Hoque, who was arrested on February 21, by Sribhumi Police, has been transferred to Dispur Police Station for further questioning. Senior officials, including the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), Crime, have arrived to oversee the investigation.

At approximately 11 AM on Friday February 28, Hoque was escorted into Dispur Police Station alongside Numaan Ahmed, a teacher also arrested in connection with the case. Authorities are set to conduct a thorough interrogation under the supervision of senior officers.  

A senior police official, speaking to GPlus, confirmed the development. Hoque was taken into custody over allegations of facilitating student promotions in exchange for bribes. His arrest followed a complaint from a Circle Officer in Assam’s Patharkandi, exposing an alleged racket within the education sector.  

With top-ranking officials leading the probe, investigators are expected to uncover further details regarding the extent of the alleged scam.
