GUWAHATI: Uma Chetry, from Bokakhat in Assam, achieved a significant milestone by becoming the first cricket player from the state to be selected for the senior national team, as reports emerged on July 3.

Her selection for the upcoming Bangladesh tour marks a remarkable moment in Assam's cricketing history.

Chetry has been chosen to represent the team in both the T20 and ODI matches, demonstrating her versatility and skill in both formats of the game.

The experienced Harmanpreet Kaur will lead the Indian side during the tour, which comprises three T20 matches and an equal number of ODIs.

Having recently been part of the victorious India A team in the Asia Emerging Cricket Tournament held in Hong Kong, Chetry's exceptional performance caught the attention of selectors.
