Following a 30-minute gun-battle, Rajkhowa gave up when he had no chance to escape.

Rajkhowa, along with four cadets surrendered in South Garo Hills on Wednesday evening. PTI cited Government sources claiming that the ULFA (I) leader is currently under the custody of Army intelligence and is being brought to Assam.

As per sources, he had met Pakistani officials in Dhaka a few days back.

Earlier, in a similar fashion, a police firing ensued in Meghalaya after reports of alleged ULFA (I) presence in South Garo Hills when Dhristi Rajkhowa tried to slip back into Meghalaya.

G Plus spoke to Priyangshu Pandey, Superintendent of Police, South Garo Hills who stated that the "police constant pressure" was one of the reasons behind the bust. Rajkhowa had two narrow escapes in March and October.

"The police has been constantly working and on 20th October we had a close encounter where he almost got caught", added Pandey.
