GUWAHATI: Just ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Assam, two Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) were recovered in Guwahati on February 5

According to reports, both the IEDs had timers and the explosion time was set for Thursday morning.

One IED was recovered from a dustbin near Jaswanta Path in Pan Bazar, another IED was recovered near Paltan Bazar.

It is to be mentioned that both the spots are one of the busiest areas in Guwahati.

The IEDs were recovered by the city police on the basis of confessional statements made by an ULFA-I militant, who was arrested from Tinsukia.

Later the Improvised Explosive Devices have been taken away towards Panikhaiti side of the city by the bomb disposal squad of the state police department.

Police official suspects the hand of the ULFA-I in it.

However, the investigation is currently underway.
