Two Forest Officials Arrested For Bribery In Assam

 

GUWAHATI: The Department of Forest and Environment, Assam, apprehended two foresters, Ziaul Islam and Sahabaz Sultan, both holding the position of Forester GD-1, from the Office of the Divisional Forest Officer (DFO), Dhubri. They were taken into custody today after accepting bribes in a conspiracy involving Binod Kumar Payeng, an Assistant Forest Surveyor (AFS) and the DFO of Dhubri.

The investigation unfolded when it was discovered that Payeng had allegedly demanded bribes from a complainant in exchange for allowing vehicle access to the complainant's Sand Mahal. It was reported that Payeng not only demanded the bribe but also orchestrated the acceptance of the illegal funds through his subordinates, Islam and Sultan.

The accused individuals will now face legal proceedings, and their actions will be investigated.
