Some eateries in the G.S Road area of Guwahati have been reportedly littering on roads and not maintaining proper cleanliness. GMC has hence levied fines of ₹10500 and ₹1500 on two such eateries due to the aforementioned reasons on Monday, August 26.

GMC took to X to put out, “Littering on roads is a punishable offence. Taking forward our efforts to improve public cleanliness in Guwahati, penalty was imposed on eateries in G.S. Road for littering on roads.”

The increase in the number of eateries in Guwahati has in general led to the increase in the influx of traffic jams and the problem of not maintaining cleanliness in the area. Maintenance of proper road rules and order has also been a cause of concern.
