GUWAHATI: The Assam Police intercepted two Bangladeshi nationals attempting to enter India on Thursday, October 31, along the India-Bangladesh border in Karimganj district.

Security officials reported that constant border monitoring enabled the timely detection of the two men, who were attempting to cross under the cover of the night.

Following the arrest, the two individuals, identified as Kobir Sikhdar and Md. Selim, were promptly returned across the border to Bangladesh.

The Assam Police, working closely with the Border Security Force (BSF) personnel, has amplified security measures in response to repeated infiltration attempts in vulnerable areas over the years.

Meanwhile, the Assam government has taken another step to reduce the influx of immigrants, with Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announcing the establishment of 12 new police stations alongside the India-Bangladesh border earlier in October.
