Two Assamese robbed in Bangalore by gang of 4 posing as Assamese

GUWAHATI: Two Assamese men waiting at Cantonment Railway Station in Bangalore were robbed off their valuables by a gang of four who spoke to the victims in their mother tongue. The incident took place on Friday, November 30.

The victims have been identified as Primon Maramsa, 22, and Bijoy Nunisa, 21, both workers at a private cattle farm in Harohalli in Ramanagara district. The duo had brought tickets to travel in Guwahati Express to go home, in Assam’s Dima Hasao district.

Reportedly, at around 7PM, while they were waiting at the platform, a group of four men approached them, speaking in Assamese. They alleged that they were traveling to Guwahati too and in course of the conversation, the thieves were informed that Maramsa and Nunisa had taken general tickets with no reservation of seats.

Allegedly, the accused took the duo for a walk so that they could while away time. They brought the victims out of the station and took them to a wine shop to buy liquor. It has been alleged that the accused then started throwing liquor on the two victims, held on to them, checked their pockets took away their cash and mobile phones and started running away.

The victims claim to have been robbed of two mobile phones valued around Rs 20,000 and they lost Rs 2,000 in cash. The victims, who were in total shock after the robbery, returned to their work place in Ramanagara. They filed a case with the Bangalore Cantonment Railway Police under section 392 of the Indian Penal Code on Thursday, December 6. The case is currently under investigation.
