Two Assam Police Personnel Die In A Flood Mishap In Nagaon

 

GUWAHATI: Two Assam Police personnel lost their lives in the line of duty in Nagaon District of Assam. The two personnel, Officer in Charge (OC) Samutjal Kakati of Kampur Police Station and Constable Rajiv Bordoloi were swept away by flood waters on Sunday night, June 19.

According to Kampur Police, at around 12.10 AM, information was received that some people were stuck in flood waters in Pasanijar, Madhupur.  OC Samutjal Kakati, along with his team, including UBC Rajiv Bordoloi, Saidul Rahman, Utpal Kumar Deb and Ranjit Bora went to rescue the people. The team met with an accident near a culvert that was under the water and the two men were washed away.

 

Following the incident, an SDRF team arrived at the site. At around 4.30 AM, Monday morning, the SDRF team recovered the body of UBC Rajiv Bordoloi. While at around 8.10 AM, Monday morning, the body of OC Samutjal Kakati was recovered.

The mortal remains of the officials were sent to the Nagaon Civil Hospital for the post-mortem.
