GUWAHATI: Basistha police on Sunday, December 18 arrested two persons, identified as Amirul Islam and Abu Abdullah- on charges of allegedly raping an 18-year- old girl in the Gorchuk area of Guwahati.
The incident took place inside an under-construction building on Friday night, December 16.
According to the police, the victim, who hails from the Sonitpur district in Assam, came in contact with Amirul Islam through one of her friends. Amirul, who is a mason, assured her to provide a private job in Guwahati.
As per reports, on Friday evening, the victim reached Guwahati and Amirul took her to the under-construction building located at Bamunpara, Gorchuk. Later, Amirul and Abu sexually abused her. Abu is a contractor by profession.
On Saturday, December 17, the girl managed to run away and later reached Basistha Police Station. Police traced the location of Amirul and arrested him along with Abu from the building.
Today, the court has sent the duo to judicial custody.
