GUWAHATI: Dispur Police arrested two individuals on Thursday, November 7, for their involvement in a wide-reaching interstate car theft operation. The accused, identified as Debojit Bhattacharya and Suleman Ali, are believed to have been active participants in a network targeting vehicle owners across state lines.

Speaking to GPlus, an official from Dispur Police station confirmed the incident, saying, “ Two arrested in interstate car theft racket. Investigation is underway.”
According to police, Bhattacharya and Ali’s operation involved an elaborate scheme where they initially posed as renters seeking cars for temporary use. Once the vehicles were under their control, they falsely reported the cars as stolen and transferred them to other states, where they were sold illegally.
Police officials have stated that further investigations are underway to identify other possible members of the network and to recover any additional stolen vehicles.
