Truck Yards, Weigh Bridges etc to Strictly Follow Social Distancing Among Other Rules

GUWAHATI: A meeting was chaired by the Deputy Commissioner of Kamrup Metro where measures to be taken for containing COVID-19 spread were decided. 

Decisions were taken with regard to trucks carrying essential commodities and goods from the different states to Guwahati, where there is possibility of direct contact of drivers/handymen with the employees and labourers of the parking lots, weigh bridges, BG Yard, etc. 

The following decisions were taken in the meeting:-

1. Social distancing is to be strictly maintained in the parking lots, weigh bridge, BG Yard, Noonmati, commercial establishment involving employees, labour, etc. 

2. Employees of the parking lots, weigh bridges, BG Yard, Noonmati, local transporter (distributors) commercial establishment involving employees should not come into direct contact with the drivers/handymen's of the trucks coming from the other states. 

3. Entry & exit point is to be strictly maintained with proper entry in the register by owners of parking lots, weigh bridge, BG Yard, Noonmati, local transporter (distributors) commercial establishments.

4. The owners of the parking lots, weigh bridges, BG Yard, Noonmati, local transporter (distributors) commercial establishment will facilitate for accommodation of the drivers/handymen in the premises separately and also to facilitate for providing essential commodities to the drivers/handymen's during the stay period. In no case, drivers/handymen will come outside the premises. 

5. The owner of the parking lots, weigh bridge, BG Yard, Noonmati, local transporter (distributors) commercial establishment involving employees, labour has to provide toilet facilities separately for the employees & for the drivers/handymen. 

6. Hand wash/sanitizer facilities in the parking lots, weigh bridge, BG Yard, Noonmati, local transporter (distributors) commercial establishment is mandatory. 

7. All the employees of the parking lots weigh bridge, BG Yard, Noonmati, local transporter (distributors) commercial establishment have to wear mask. 

8. All the owners of the parking lots/distributors (local transport) etc commercial establishment have to submit the list of employees as well as the list of names of drivers/handymen (local transporter) to the Additional Deputy Commissioner, Kamrup (M) (Sri Bipul Kumar Das) on June 14 by email dc-kamrupm@nic.in.  

9. The owner of the parking lots, weigh bridges, BG Yards, Noonmati, local transporter (distributors), commercial establishment will erect the hoarding in their respective premises mentioning Dos & Don'ts on COVID-19 in three versions, Hindi/ English/Assamese and also to make awareness amongst the employees.

All owners of parking lots /transporters/ Weigh bridge operaters/commercial establishments, etc ,are also directed to strictly comply with the decisions. Violation of the above will attract the legal action as per Disaster Management Act.

A joint inspection will be carried out by the enforcement team from June 17 to oversee the enforcement of the directives.

Health Department will also conduct swab tests of one third of the employees of respective parking lots/weigh bridges, from June 16.
