GUWAHATI: Uttar Pradesh Police have arrested four people after a mob of villagers brutally beat to death a full grown tigress that had attacked local people on July 26.
The tigress was about six years old and she died of broken ribs and injuries to her body. The tigress was cremated after a post mortem. Local forest officials have registered an FIR against 31 identified villagers for the incident and four people have been arrested.
It is to be mentioned that dozens of armed people surrounded the animal after it entered their village, chased it and bludgeoned it to death with wooden batons and spears. The phone video showed villagers battering the animal as it lay nearly motionless on the ground.
Mobile phone footage of the incident went viral on social media, and officials said one of nine people injured by the animal earlier had died in hospital.
