GUWAHATI: A female tiger, aged between 4 to 5  years, was found dead by forest officials of the Kaziranga National Park (KNP) in Assam on Monday, February 28. Notably,  a dead cow, half-eaten by the tiger, was also recovered in the vicinity.

The dead tiger was recovered from the Mihimukh area of the KNP.

Deputy Conservator of Forests Ramesh Gogoi told G Plus that upon inspection, the tiger was found to have vomited before death. Therefore, the tiger is suspected to have died of poisoning.

"Generally, tigers die either of old age or infighting. Since there were no injury marks on the tiger's body, we suspect miscreants must have poisoned the cow intending to poison the tiger," Gogoi said.

The carcass of the tiger was disposed of after post-mortem as per guidelines. A case has been registered in this connection for further investigation.
