GUWAHATI: The students of Assam University have demanded the rollout of both online and offline exams for their odd semester exams. The TDC Students of all affiliated colleges and Law Colleges of Barak Valley submitted a memorandum to Deputy Commissioner Cachar regarding the same.

The Assistant Deputy Commissioner Rajib Roy called the Registrar of Assam University, who responded that only PG courses have to take online mode of Examinations.

The students have alleged that the university has conducted both online and offline examination for students inside the campus. However, the colleges affiliated with the university outside the campus are not given this benefit.

The odd semester exams are slated to begin from March 11. G Plus spoke to a representative from AK Chanda College who alleged that secondary treatment has been meted by the Assam University towards the out of campus colleges.

Meanwhile, the Assam University authorities have claimed the allegations as baseless. "We have only allowed students of PG courses to avail the online mode and we are going forward with the offline exams," the Controller of Examinations  Suprabir Dutta Roy told G Plus.

On the issue of the new COVID-19 cases he further stated, "If people can attend marriages, why can't they appear for exams?"
