GUWAHATI: Three new trains were flagged off from Guwahati Railway Station on Friday, January 3, by Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw.

The locomotive services include the Guwahati-New Lakhimpur Janshatabdi Express, the New Bongaigaon–Guwahati Passenger Train, and the Tinsukia–Naharlagun Express. These trains have been launched to support regional connectivity, offering more efficient travel options for passengers across Assam and neighbouring regions.
In addition to the rail services, Vaishnaw inaugurated the Tetelia Road Over Bridge (ROB) in Dispur. This infrastructure project is expected to manage traffic congestion, especially during peak hours, contributing to smoother vehicular movement in the city.
The minister also inaugurated a 10 KW FM Transmitter at Akashvani Kokrajhar, an upgrade from the existing 20 Kilowatt Medium Wave transmitter operational since 1999. The new transmitter will cover a 70-kilometre radius, benefiting over 30 lakh residents in districts such as Dhubri, Bongaigaon, and Chirang with superior FM reception quality.
Finally, Vaishnaw virtually inaugurated the NIELIT (National Institute of Electronics & Information Technology) Deemed to be University.
