GUWAHATI: Coming down heavy against the re-alliance of AGP and BJP, former Assam CM Prafulla Kumar Mahanta said that re-alliance with the BJP was not discussed within the 10-member committee of the party in which he is a member and that only a few leaders took the decision in an undemocratic manner.
Alliance with the BJP is against the interest of the people as they want to bring the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2016 after coming back to power.
Mahanta said that the alliance betrays the spirit of the Assam movement and the 855 martyrs who laid down their lives.
Mahanta further said that the news circulating about him becoming the Governor of Mizoram is nothing but a political conspiracy against him to defame him and remove him from the party.
He also said that party loyalists and common people should come together to make the party stronger for the 2021 Assam assembly election.
