GUWAHATI: Tezpur University (TU) has been awarded a ₹10 crore research grant under the Central Government’s Promotion of University Research and Scientific Excellence (PURSE) scheme, administered by the Department of Science and Technology (DST). This financial support aims to strengthen the university’s research infrastructure and scientific capabilities.
The DST will provide the funds over four years, facilitating the acquisition of advanced research equipment for interdisciplinary studies. The grant will also be utilised to recruit research personnel, procure essential materials, maintain instruments, and support scientific social responsibility initiatives. Additionally, it will aid start-ups, foster industry collaborations, and fund seminars and workshops.
The TU PURSE project will enhance the university’s research endeavors in crucial fields such as green hydrogen production, bio-waste conversion into biofuels, and the development of energy storage and conversion devices. These focus areas align with national priorities for sustainability and environmental conservation.
