Suspected IED, ‘Bomb’ triggers sensation in Upper Assam on D-Day

GUWAHATI: Recovery of a suspected Improvised Explosive Device (IED) and ‘bomb-like’ item in two different parts of upper Assam has triggered a sensation on the first phase of elections, April 11. 

It is to be mentioned that in one instance, under Tinsukia district, a suspected IED was recovered from an oil pipeline at Lankashi Methola tea estate and another one, wrapped in a polythene bag was recovered from Duliajan town.

Polling in five Lok Sabha seats are underway in Assam and around 44.33 percent voters exercised their franchise till 1 PM in the first phase of Lok Sabha Elections in the five parliamentary constituencies in Assam.
