Suspected Drug Trafficker Arrested At Guwahati Railway Station

 

GUWAHATI: A joint operation by the Railway Protection Force (RPF) and Government Railway Police (GRP) at Guwahati Railway Station led to the arrest of a suspected drug trafficker on Monday, May 20. The operation, conducted around 8:00 am on platforms 4 and 5, resulted in the seizure of 48 grams of what is suspected to be brown sugar.

The suspect, identified as Niharuddin Barbhuyan (43), son of Sorbat Ali Barbhuyan and a resident of Sonai Road, Motinagar in Cachar district, Assam, was detained after officers noticed him moving around suspiciously.

Upon further inspection, four plastic boxes containing the suspected brown sugar were found in his possession.

The seized narcotics, with an estimated street value of ₹5 lakh, were confiscated by the GRP in the presence of witnesses and have been secured for further investigation.

Further investigation is underway to uncover more details about the suspect's involvement in the drug trade.
