Survey work for new BG line sanctioned by Railway Board

The Railway Board has sanctioned survey work for two new BG line in Assam. Participating in an AIR News talk show, Divisional Railway Manager of Rangia Division in N F Railway Ravilesh Kumar said that proposed new line will connect Barpeta town.

It was the long pending demand to connect Barpeta which has tourist potentiality . Both the proposed line would cover 270 kilometres. Mr.Kumar also said that 880 crore rupees works have been sanctioned to construct new line from Agthori to Kamakhya with new double line at Saraighat bridge. He said that engineering survey has been completed for this purpose. He also said that electrification works at several places at Rangia Division including Changsari to New Bongaigaon has been started.

Mr. Kumar informed that he took unique initiative of keeping elephants away from rail line by using honey bee sounds as several deaths of wild animals have been reported in the state. Mr. Kumar said that Gate Mitra has been appointed at 43 unmanned level crossing under Rangia Division to avoid untoward incident.
