GUWAHATI: The Supreme Court of India has ordered the Assam Government to provide adequate security for National Register of Citizens (NRC), State Coordinator, Prateek Hajela and his family.
According to sources Hajela has been receiving threats from unknown persons.
The court passed this order after the NRC directorate wary of Hajela and his family's security approached the court.
The Court has asked the Assam Government to ensure safety so that Hajela can fearlessly perform his duties.
