Subsidised Onion Sold At 12 Designated Points In Guwahati

GUWAHATI: The Kamrup Metro District Administration is collaborating with the National Agricultural Cooperative Marketing Federation of India Ltd (NAFED) to facilitate the sale of onions at subsidised rates through mobile vans stationed at designated points within Guwahati.

Officials from the Food, Public Distribution, and Consumer Affairs (FPD&CA) branch of the government are monitoring onion prices at various wholesale and retail markets.

As per discussions held on October 31, the authorities have requested NAFED to make onions available through mobile vans or vendors during specified times, specifically in the morning (from 8 AM to 10 AM) and in the evening (starting from 4 PM) every alternate day.

These services will be available at the following fixed distribution points within the city:

1.    Sixmile (near IDBI Bank)
2.    Basistha Bazar
3.    Beltola Bazar
4.    Ganeshguri (between the Petrol Pump and Flyover)
5.    Dispur Last Gate (near GMC office/field)
6.    Ulubari Bazar
7.    Uzanbazar
8.    Chandmari Bazar
9.    Pandu Bazar
10.    Maligaon Bazar (near the Police Station)
11.    Noonmati Bazar
12.    Hengerabari (near PHE Office)

NAFED is also requested to maintain close communication with the respective Area Inspector from the FPD&CA branch in Kamrup Metropolitan District to address any queries or concerns.

This initiative aims to make onions more accessible to the public at government-fixed prices and provide essential relief during these times.
