The State Government on Tuesday provided a financial assistance of Rs 9,72,343 to 31 ailing journalists of Assam under the Journalists' Welfare Medical Fund at a function held at Janata Bhawan.
Speaking on the occasion, Hrishikesh Goswami, Media Advisor to the Chief Minister, said that the Journalists’ Welfare Medical Fund is an effort on the part of the Chief Minister to expedite the government’s initiatives towards the welfare of the journalists of Assam.
Hrishikesh Goswami further said that unlike govt employees of several other govt departments, journalists are devoid of financial security.
He also said that the Assam Govt in the near future will make more such welfare schemes which will benefit the journalists.
