SSB's Women Personnel To Increase To 6% By 2026

 

GUWAHATI: Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation, Amit Shah, marked the 60th Raising Day of Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) as the Chief Guest at the SSB Recruit Training Center in Tezpur, Assam. 

He praised SSB's efforts in women empowerment, setting a target to increase women personnel to six percent by 2026. 

The ceremony was attended by Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, Union Home Secretary, Director General SSB, and other distinguished guests. The Home Minister inaugurated several projects costing Rs 226 crore, including the 45th Battalion Headquarters in Veerpur, 20th Battalion Headquarters in Sitamarhi, and various facilities such as barracks, mess, hospitals, and quarter guards. 

The Home Minister expressed confidence that the country would be entirely free from the Naxal problem within the next three years. He also announced the formulation of a central-level policy to promote sports in all Central Armed Paramilitary Forces (CAPFs). 

Regarding criminal justice reform, Shah said that new laws aim to conclude the entire process after an FIR within three years. He also highlighted SSB's contributions to Beti Bachao Beti Padhao, Swachh Bharat Mission, water conservation, tree plantation, and other social welfare programs.
