Srimanta Sankardeva University to get 350 Additional Bighas of Land

GUWAHATI: Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, in a meeting at Janata Bhawan on Monday January 6, directed district administration officials to allocate the promised additional 350 bighas of land to Srimanta Sankardeva University.

The CM also said that the state government will write to the centre to acknowledge the birth anniversary of Srimanta Sankardeva as a national holiday. In addition, Srimanta Sankardeva’s life and works will be included as a sole chapter in NCERT studies.

During the meeting, the representatives of Srimanta Sankardeva Sangha appealed to the Chief Minister for government assistance in order to carry forward the required academic activities of the 56 schools and four colleges run by the Sangha.

Sonowal promised the representatives of the Sangha that the government will take steps for the development of the Sangha and the birthplace of Srimanta Sankardeva in every possible way.
