GUWAHATI: The vigilance and anti-corruption department (V&AC) on Wednesday, September 4 arrested the District Sports Officer of Golaghat, Assam while accepting a bribe.
According to reports, when the principal of Dhekial Higher Secondary School,Nripen Chandra Dutta, approached the accused identified as Manorama Das for a signature of utilization certificate, the officer demanded a bribe of Rs. 50,000.

The principal further reported the incident to the police and laid a trap to catch her red-handed.
Later, based on a complaint from the principal the accused was arrested by a team of Golaghat Police while she was accepting a bribe of Rs. 30,000 from the principal in Golaghat.
The police are currently interrogating the officer and she will be produced before a special court in Guwahati.
A case has been registered at Golaghat PS Case No. 891/2019 under section 7(a) of the PC Act.
