GUWAHATI: Ranjeet Kumar Dass, the Minister for Panchayat and Rural Development, Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs, and General Administration, inaugurated a groundbreaking project on the agricultural land of Gaurikant Deka, a National Awardee farmer hailing from Bajali.
Deka, known for his decades-long dedication to agriculture, cultivates a vast expanse of 22 bighas with diverse crops such as strawberries, apples, cashews, and chocolate.
The inauguration ceremony marked the commencement of the construction for the RIDF-XXIX (NABARD) 2023-24 funded Solar-Powered Hybrid Irrigation Scheme on Deka's land. This transformative project falls under the purview of the Irrigation Department's Tihu division and is set to bring about a significant advancement in sustainable energy utilisation for agricultural practices.
The initiative aligns with the broader goal of promoting eco-friendly and energy-efficient solutions in the agricultural sector. The Solar-Powered Hybrid Irrigation Scheme is expected to enhance irrigation practices on Deka's expansive farmland, contributing to increased agricultural productivity.
Minister Dass expressed his satisfaction with the implementation of this forward-looking project, emphasising its role in harnessing sustainable energy for agricultural development. The scheme represents a crucial step forward in integrating renewable energy sources into traditional farming practices, promoting efficiency, and reducing the ecological footprint of agricultural activities.
