GUWAHATI: Six writers from the northeast have been nominated for the Sahitya Akademi Yuva Puraskar 2019 and Bal Sahitya Puraskar 2019 for their contribution in the field of children’s literature, short stories, plays and poetry.
Assamese writer Swamim Nasrin, Bodo writer Lakhminath Brahma and Manipuri author RK Sanahanbi Chanu were chosen for the Bal Sahitya Puraskar 2019.
Nasrin won the award for his collection of stories, ‘Mili Amia Aru Ekhon Nadi,’ while Brahma was nominated for his folk tale, ‘Solobatha Khwanasong De’ and Chanu was nominated for his play, ‘Thawaishinggi Thawai.’

For the Sahitya Akademi Yuva Puraskar 2019, Sanjib Pol Deka won the award for his work, ‘Ei Pine Ki Ase,’ while Bodo poet, Rujab Muchahary won the award for his poetry, ‘Sansri Arw Mwndangthini Mwkhang.’
Manipuri poet Jiten Oinaba also won the award for his collection of poetry, ‘Canvasta Tarakpa Pirangna.’
The awards will be given later this year and include caskets with engraved plaques in addition to a cheque of Rs. 50,000.
The Sahitya Akademi Yuva Puraskar is a literary honor in India which Sahitya Akademi, India's National Academy of Letters, annually confers on young writers of outstanding works in one of the twenty-four major Indian languages.
