Six File Nomination For Asam Sahitya Sabha President Poll

 

GUWAHATI: A total of eighteen contestants filed nominations for various posts of the upcoming election of the Asam Sahitya Sabha. Six out of the eighteen contestants filed their nomination for the post of President, six filed nomination for the post of Vice President, and six filed nomination for the post of General Secretary of Asam Sahitya Sabha. 

Talking to media, Kuladhar Saikia, President of Asam Sahitya Sabha said, “Total eighteen people filed nomination for Sahitya Sabha’s election in various posts till October 27, 2022.”

“Nine people filed their nomination today, and another nine people filed their nomination yesterday,” he further added.

Saikia also informed that Roman Sarma and Prahlad Chandra Tasa filed their nomination for the post of President. Girish Handique, Dhiren Sarma, Ganesh Chandra Nath, Pabitra Borbora filed their nomination for the post of Vice President and Romanandan Bora, Debajit Bora, Yadav Chandra Sarma filed their nomination for the post of General Secretary on October 27. 

He further said, that the election committee expects a new President and it will be announced within the month of December, 2022.  

On October 26, Nahandra Padun and Jagadish Patgiri, Surya Hazarika and Yese Dorse Thongchi filed their nomination for the post of President. Gubinda Talukdar, Basanta Kumar Sarma filed their nomination for the post of Vice President and Anup Borthakur, Upendrajit Sarma and Chahir Bhuyan filed their nomination for the post of General Secretary.

The last date of withdrawal of nomination is October 28. The polling process will start from November 2 and will end on November 13. The date of the election result is yet to be announced. A total 791 district and branch committees will participate in the election including branches of USA, England along with other committees of Assam and India.
